Using Power-Pole anchors on your pontoon boat
ProductsThere’s no doubt that Power-Pole products aid anglers in all facets of positioning and anchoring for the ultimate advantage to putting fish in the box. What many boaters don’t realize is that Power-Pole shallow water anchor applications aren’t just limited to fishermen, but can be utilized on pontoon boats to facilitate maximum fun.
“One of the main advantages of the Power-Pole shallow water anchor is when docking, the anchor allows you to keep the boat off the dock without having to use a secondary anchor rope to secure the boat,” says Dan Benson, National Sales Director at Power-Pole. “With a simple push of a button, the pole holds you steady right at the dock, and you just safely step off the boat.”
Any pontoon captain knows the aggravating situation — you’re out with family or friends for some fun in the sun, pull up to a sandbar or island, then begin the process of fumbling around with the fore and aft anchors, trying to position the boat and adjust the two anchor lines to set yourself. Forget all of that. Instead, simply hit a button, and deploy the Power-Pole shallow water anchor down, and stop the boat wherever you want to set up shop.
“There’s no need to fight the front and back anchor systems for 20 minutes,” Benson says. “The easy deployment of the pole gives you peace of mind and puts you at ease to continue on with the good times. Power-Pole usage on pontoons is built around giving you the most time to have fun with no hassle.”
Don’t worry about custom fitting a Power-Pole shallow water anchor onto a pontoon, either. Installation is a cinch. Power-Pole makes specially designed Pontoon Brackets to fit any and all types of pontoons, and they come in a variety of drop-length and top-length sizes for the perfect fit.
And, with the pontoon boats, it’s not just all about partying.
“Pontoon boaters get all the usual angling benefits of the Power-Pole shallow water anchor, whether anchoring off a weed patch or ledge, simply stopping on a good spot to make some well-placed casts, or deploying the pole in silence so as not to spook the fish,” Benson says. “The stress-relieving benefits of the Power-Pole on pontoon boats is key. It’s made to make your day on the water that much more enjoyable.”

I fish in 8 to 10 feet of water. Will these work on my pontoon boat at that depth?
Thanks
Lonnie
Yes, the length listed in the model, eg… 8-foot, denotes the length of the anchor once it is fully deployed. We also make a 10-foot model in the Blade Series for slightly deeper water.
What length PP should I put on my 20′ Bennington Pontoon boat ??? We usually stay in shallow water (< 10 feet).
Hey Mike,
We would recommend the Sportsman II series for most pontoons. Learn more here: https://www.power-pole.com/products/shallow-water-anchors/sportsman-ii-cm2/
Any photos of an an installation on a twin engine pontoon boat?
This page will take you to the adapter wizard which should help you figure out which configuration is best for you. https://www.power-pole.com/shallow-water-anchor-pontoon
Who’s pontoon is that in the photo? The one with tower and snook painted on side? Would love to trick out my pontoon charter boat like that!
I am looking to add power pole to my 24″ Tritoon. Should I install 2 power poles and would it be better to have 1 bow and 1 stern or both on stern . Problem I see with 2 on the stern is access to the ladder.
Here is our page that explains the different mounting options available.

If you contact the Power-Pole customer service department, they can walk you through the process and get you everything that you might need as far as brackets and mounts.

Looking for an under the deck mounting option as our pontoons sides go right to the edge all the way around.
Gail,
You can explore the various mounting options available for pontoons here: https://www.power-pole.com/adapterwizard/mounting-pontoon/
I just purchased a pontoon with two of these attached to the back. We pulled up to a small island off of the ocean waves and put the polls down and while they did hold in the waves were a little crazy so the polls move back-and-forth. I got nervous that they would break so I pulled them back up. Can you use these in ocean water and it’s OK for them to move around and Bend?
The Everflex Spike is designed to bend and give with the waves like that. They’ll keep you locked down in anything short of a hurricane.

I live in southwest Florida and have areas of open gulf water with a lot of beach area with waters that can sometimes be pretty strong. I have a 22ft sylvan and would like to have a power pole installed but can’t help but think I need two to help control the boat from spinning while at the beach or open water sandbars. is a single 10ft pole enough to keep a boat this size stable or should we have to installed? And can the poles be installed on the transom, as we have a ladder at the rear of one side?
