BERNIE SCHULTZ

Hometown: Gainesville, Florida

Home water: Orange Lake and the “Big Bend” on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Describe your life as an angler/outdoorsman: I’ve been a professional angler since I was 18 yrs old. That’s all I’ve ever done to make a living. We’re an avid outdoor family and it’s our life!

Preferred Species to Target: Bass, snook, tarpon, bonefish, permit, tripletail, redfish.

Favorite Fishing Technique: Anything with light tackle.

First Fishing Memory: Catching bream with my mom and granddad on our home lake in Sanford, Florida

Favorite ‘Personal Best’ Fish: Catching my biggest bass while filming an instructional video for Shimano. Although I was unable to weigh that fish before releasing it, it easily exceeded 12 pounds.

Favorite Fishing Moment: Probably when I went to Mazatlan, Mexico to film bass and offshore saltwater. I caught largemouth bass up to 9 pounds, a mahi weighing 60 pounds, numerous Pacific sailfish over 100 pounds, and a 300-pound marlin on 20-pound spinning tackle. All in just four days and all of it was caught on camera!
