More than an Angler – Tyler Anderson
Exclusive . Power-Pole PresentsTyler Anderson is a long-time friend of Power-Pole and our inaugural content creation-based angler. We are excited to bring you this exclusive interview written by the man himself.
When I was asked as a high school student what I wanted to do for a living, I would easily answer that I wanted to fish. I didn’t know what that would look like, but there was really only one end goal for me… fish on the line and money in the bank. As the years progressed, my desire to film various fishing adventures consumed my thoughts daily, sometimes even more than the fishing itself. So from this desire, the creative journey sprouted roots and began to grow. This journey with a rod and camera has taken me around the world, shooting videos about the fish that we all love to catch, and it’s been an absolute whirlwind.

In college, I had the opportunity to be involved in a business mentorship program called “Startup Aggieland.” Here I got to interact with millionaire investors and CEOs who gave their time to mentor students at Texas A&M University. I learned so many practical ways to advance in my journey as an entrepreneur, but one piece that really stuck out was what they called the “Entrepreneur Mindset,” and it is defined by this singular phrase:
“Work like no one else does now, so you can live like no one else will later.”

To anyone who wants to run a successful business, that sentence can be incredibly motivating. But it didn’t motivate me in the way you might think. Instead of pushing me to produce more videos, get more sponsors and work more connections, all for the advancement of MY OWN name and fame, I have found a great desire to work hard in the now so that everyone I come into contact with knows who I am working for and who I am serving, and it’s not for me, but for Jesus Christ.

In the book of 1 Thessalonians, the writer encourages the reader to “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” I feel this verse perfectly represents the purpose of my work ethic and desire to produce more content than ever before.
My goal is to grow my channel in followers and engagement, but if it’s all to garner money and fame for TRF, I see that end result as meaningless. I truly find no greater joy than when someone tells me that my videos encouraged them during a difficult stage of life, as I know at that moment, I am fulfilling my true purpose for all the hard work. So for the past 10 years and into the next 10, I vow to work hard now so that MANY will find life now and for eternity.
Tyler is clearly a man of resolve, and we are proud to partner with him throughout the year.
